My Views On Last Week's Debate

I saw parts of last week's Republican debate in Iowa, so let me opine for a moment!

Fred Thompson came across as very wooden - nothing that would excite me as a voter. Ron Paul reminded me of Pat Paulsen (ok, I'm dating myself a bit with that!) and didn't seem to be of Presidential stature. While I enjoyed and agreed with a lot of what Allen Keyes said, I was very concerned with how it was delivered. It seemed like too much showmanship on Mr. Keyes part. John McCain seemed solid, and so did Mr. Romney.

In my opinion, the clear winner was Mike Huckabee. And no, I'm not just saying that because I support him! His responses were clear and compelling and they were delivered very well. One key point was made by Mike - he's had more hands-on governing experience than any other Republican candidate!

From what I saw of it, it was a good and spirited debate. Just what the voters need to help them make an informed choice!

A Different War In Iraq

A different war is being waged in Iraq, but this one does not involve US military personnel. It is a war against Iraqi Christians.



According to CBN News, approximately 1 million Iraqi Christians have left their homes and the country completely because of the persecutions they suffer. You can read the entire news story from VOM by clicking here.



Pray for the safety of the Christians in Iraq and in other countries where it is illegal to be a Christian.

Huckabee Vaults To Second In National Polls

In case you missed it, Mike Huckabee has moved from "nowhere" to "now here" - he is in second place in new national polls.

Congress Vs. Progress

You may have heard the argument before - if "pro" means "for" and "con" means "against" is Congress against progress? I think it is.

Last week President Bush blasted congress, telling them not to go on vacation until they acted on a critical defense spending bill. President Bush stated, "I ask Congress to provide this essential funding to our troops before members leave on their Christmas vacation." Without this bill, civilian employees will be laid off and military bases will have to scale back their operations.

Congress is playing partisan politics when they should be doing their job. It's no wonder their approval rating is so dismal.

In Case You Missed It...

There are some positive things happening, but they may not get the press that the bad stuff does. So, in case you missed it...


  • US combat deaths in Iraq show continued decline. Combat deaths in Iraq were at 126 for the month of May, and last month were at 38. While we mourn the loss of every one of our military members, we also keep in mind they are accomplishing great things every day. Even Iraqi civilian deaths due to the war have declined.
  • Our countries third quarter economic growth was the fastest in four years.

Not everything is gloom and doom! Remember, bad news sells papers - don't forget to look for the good things that are happening.
