My Views On Last Week's Debate

I saw parts of last week's Republican debate in Iowa, so let me opine for a moment!

Fred Thompson came across as very wooden - nothing that would excite me as a voter. Ron Paul reminded me of Pat Paulsen (ok, I'm dating myself a bit with that!) and didn't seem to be of Presidential stature. While I enjoyed and agreed with a lot of what Allen Keyes said, I was very concerned with how it was delivered. It seemed like too much showmanship on Mr. Keyes part. John McCain seemed solid, and so did Mr. Romney.

In my opinion, the clear winner was Mike Huckabee. And no, I'm not just saying that because I support him! His responses were clear and compelling and they were delivered very well. One key point was made by Mike - he's had more hands-on governing experience than any other Republican candidate!

From what I saw of it, it was a good and spirited debate. Just what the voters need to help them make an informed choice!

I agree with you about Keyes. He acted irritated, and he seemed like he had a victim's mentality--even if he did have legitimate points.

I think someone probably pointed these things out to him, because when he was interviewed on Hannity & Colmes recently, he smiled with this ear-to-ear smile every time he finished speaking, and kept smiling until he started talking again.

p.s. Merry Christmas!
